Cut your grocery bill in half...

I started playing The Grocery Game again in order to save money. I went grocery shopping Sunday and my total was $114.89. I was thinking, "Oh, no. There's been a mistake." Then the cashier scanned my grocery card and the total came down to $73.27. Then he scanned my coupons and the final total was $56.78. That's total savings of 51%.

And this is just my second week back at it...

I think I am going to try this. Just wanted to let you know that I read your blog all the t ime and I love all the kool tips. I am learning a lot from you. Hey, I want to share some recipes with you. This is a recipe for goulash.
1 pound ground turkey
1 bell pepper (diced)
1 yellow onion (diced)
1 can of mixed veggies (drained)
1 small can of corn (drained)
1 can (15 oz) of unsalted tomato sauce
1 can (15oz) of regular tomato sauce
1 can (8oz) of unsalted tomato sauce
1 tablespoon of chili powder
1 can of petite diced tomatoes (drained)
1/2 package of elbow macaroni

Brown meat with onion and bell pepper, & 1/2 tablespoon of chili powder, then drain. Add mixed veggies, corn, tomato sauce and tomatoes. Season with garlic salt pepper and remaining chili powder to taste. Bring to a boil, cover, and then simmer.
While everything is simmering, boil macaroni as directed on package. (don't over cook macaroni - matter of fact you can undercook macaroni by 2-4 mins.)
Drain macaroni and mix macaroni with meat mixture. Let everything simmer 15-20 minutes. Serve with garlic bread

You can add cheese if the kiddos like cheese with everything like Luke. You can substitute the can veggies for frozen veggies if you like. You can also use regular tomato sauce. We just try to watch our salt intake. Hope this is one you will try.

Oh that sounds good! Goulash is one of the dishes my mother-in-law lures J home with, so I will give this a try and let you know how it goes.
