Drew's cousins caught 3 lizards for him to bring home and keep as pets. We threw the smallest one out because I was really creeped out. Three lizards is just too many. Really, ONE lizard, is one too many, but three is just over the top.
We bought a container from Wal-mart and filled it with potting soil, a few rocks and a wood chip, and put a bottle cap full of water inside. I taped up the larger holes to make sure there was no chance of escape. The thought of a lizard inside my house... I don't even want to think about it!
The next morning Drew went to play with the next smallest lizard and it died. Then we couldn't find the big one and thought he may have escaped. Drew even dug around in the dirt and couldn't find him. So of course I'm thinking there's a lizard in my house.
He must have been hiding pretty well because a few days later, we saw him in his container. Now he comes out every day and I'm always glad he's alive, though I always shudder when I look at him. They've tried to talk me into bringing him in, but I insist he stay outside at all times! (You know, to be in his natural habitat and all.)
We bought some reptile pellets to feed him, but I think he prefers dead flies. Drew drops them in his tank whenever we swat one.
I have to end this post now because this photo is really creeping me out.
The things Moms do for their children. I fully expect them to buy me expensive presents when I'm old and gray!

Hee hee hee... I like the idea of them staying 'in their natural habitat' too!!! That is why no snakes, lizards, etc will be in this house! I would NOT be able to sleep at night for the fear of them getting out!! ACK!!!
This is Chas from the shed by the way!! :)

Hi Chas!
Apparently the natural habitat isn't best. We got up to 105 degrees today and the lizard died. I knew it was hot, but sheesh - he was in the shade and he would have been outside anyway if we hadn't found him.
Well, life goes on. For the rest of us, at least.
