Sing with me you former Girlscouts, "one is silver and the other gold!"
Last week I had dinner with girlfriends. These are women I have known since freshman year of college. They were roomates and sorority sisters and bridesmaids in my wedding. We can talk about whatever we want to when we hang out without censoring ourselves. We've had our knock down drag outs, but have dusted ourselves off and moved on. We each secretly think the others are crazy, but we still enjoy each other's company.
There is just something about being with people who Know you and love you anyway.
There's also something about being with people who Don't know you once took a vase your then boyfriend (now husband) gave you for Valentine's day and threw it over a balcony. Which is why last week I also felt blessed to make a new friend.
Stack is someone I met online who lives less than 5 minutes away (and is thankfully not an axe murderer). Our kids splashed around in her backyard like they'd been friends forever, and before we went home, our two oldest held hands. Drew now thinks they have to get married, and he decided to write her a little note (which I have yet to mail).
On the front it says, "fRoM bREw".
Inside it says, "SArAH I HOpE To SEE YOU AnOTherDAY". (That took up the entire page.)
Handwriting is something we are still working on, but I will post more about that later. What I am mostly concerned with is Drew's character. He may not be learning to copy a spelling list ten times, but he is learning how to be a good friend.
