Then we made felt farm puppets. They're by Lauri and purchased from Rainbow Resource.
We're going to do 4 more over the rest of the week (may go into next week as well) and then have a puppet show.
We're reading James Herriot's Treasury for Children, The Year at Maple Hill Farm (covers seasons as well) and the section on farmers in Things People Do. I'm having Drew read an Usborne Beginners reader called Farm Animals, and I have a book for Jazzy called When the Rooster Crowed.
I try to keep things light. I want to do enough to get them interested and asking questions, but not so much that they sigh and roll their eyes. I may take them to Owen's farm next week, but we'll have to see. I don't like to pack our schedule to the point that I'm stressed out and yelling, "HURRY UP AND GO PEE AND PUT YOUR SHOES ON SO WE CAN GO SEE SOMETHING FUN!" For some reason that seems to take the fun out of it.
